It is an honor to
serve as principal of Bishop Mora Salesian High School.
I believe the children are our future Teach them well and let
them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride…
Excerpt from the song, "Greatest Love of All" Written by Michael
Masser and Linda Creed
Some people believe that the most important thing to give a
child is the "best education money can buy." I disagree,
although an excellent education is very high on my list. I do
believe that we should "teach them well and let them lead the
way." As parents we should not only ensure, we should demand,
that our children receive the best education possible, both in
and out of the classroom. We must share with them our sense of
values and ethics, and encourage their curiosity to learn and
explore on their own. We must instill in them positive habits
that will lead to becoming a responsible person. Once we have
given our children a solid foundation, we need to let go and
trust them to create their own lives, make their own mistakes,
have their own successes, and follow their own destiny. Let them
blossom on their own. I think for many parents the greatest
challenge is to learn how to give guidance and at the same time
allow their children to be themselves, to have their own lives
and follow their own dreams.
Over 30% of our students made the 1st quarter honor
roll. A third or our students have demonstrated that they have
formed positive habits allowing them to succeed academically.
Although I am pleased with our numbers, I am challenging our
school community to reach the 50% mark by the semester. All
students falling below a C average are required to attend 2
hours per week of tutoring. Teachers are committed to
communicate with parents on the progress of their sons. The
school is committed to the success of our students and to
assisting our families in developing good-positive habits.
Beginning the second semester, in January, all parents and
students will have access to on-line grading. You will be able
to check your sons’ progress from the comfort of your home or
workplace.
As we constantly continue to look for ways of improving
our school,I invite you and encourage you to offer your gifts
and talents, to share ideas, and to continue your support of our
mission.
May God and the
spirit of St. John Bosco continue to strengthen you and your
family.
Your Principal
Samuel Robles
