General
Information Requirements:
Application
for entrance to colleges should be made early in the senior year.
The University of California will begin accepting for fall of the
coming year, usually in October of the senior year. It is often wise
to apply to three, four or even five very carefully selected
colleges.
Most colleges require applications to
take either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American
Colleges Test (ACT). The Counseling Office has registration forms
for these tests. It is highly recommended that every student take
the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT 1) as early as June of his junior
year in order to qualify for scholarships and financial aid. Results
of the test are sent directly to the colleges of the one's "choice"
and to the high school. Two main areas stressed in the test are
verbal aptitude and mathematical reasoning. Colleges often demand
the SAT 2 (Subject Area Tests). These tests measure scholastic
achievement or subject matter learning. Each subject Area Test one
hour.
