Summer
freshmen mathematics is a
preparatory course in basic mathematics skills and techniques. The goal is to prepare the students with solid Mathematic study habits. It is a required course for all students entering as a freshman at Salesian High School.
Algebra 1-B is a course continuing from Algebra 1-A. The course emphasizes on systems of linear equations. Quadratic equations, exponents and exponential equations, rational equations, radical equations and polynomial factoring. This course will develop through problem solving techniques. The completion of Algebra 1 –B will conclude the remedial studies of mathematics.
Algebra 1-A is a course for students who need to comprehend algebraic concepts in a year and a half (2 semesters and summer school). This course emphasizes the basic operations, properties of real numbers, subsets, of real numbers, solving algebraic equations with single variable of first degree, solving simple algebraic word problems, graphing linear equations, and formulating and solving linear equations. The course will allow students of repeated practice in algebraic systematic skills and techniques. The goal is to establish a thorough fundamental algebraic skills and mathematic foundation. Geometry is a college preparatory course in geometric definitions, postulates and theorems. Students will cover topics such as segments, lines, angles, angle relationship, perpendicular lines, parallel lines, polygons, triangle solving, surface area and volumes of solids, coordinate geometry, and basic trigonometric functions. Students will continue to apply algebraic skills and deductive reasoning in problem solving and real world applications are emphasized throughout the course.

Pre – Algebra is a course in introduction to algebra. Students will learn the skills in formulating and computing algebraic expressions. Students will learn to interpret basic algebraic solutions and basic algebraic word problems.
Basic Mathematic is a course in the fundamental processes of mathematics designed to develop both accuracy and speed in the computation using decimals, fractions and integers, percent, and properties of the decimal number system and mathematical terminology. Algebra I is a college preparatory course in equations with variables. Students will learn to use systematic algebraic techniques in solving algebraic equations, inequalities, and word problems. Students will be introduced algebraic concepts including functions, linear and parabola graphing techniques, polynomials factoring, and trigonometry. Students are required to comprehend algebraic terminology and interpretation of algebraic equations and word problems. Algebra 2/Trigonometry is a college preparatory course in advanced algebraic concepts and techniques. The course will emphasize in analyzing and solving linear, quadratic, rational, radical, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric equations. It also will emphasize advanced operations of higher degree polynomial equations, conic sections, discrete math and probability and statistics. Students, completing this course, will advance to Pre-Calculus.
Pre-Calculus is a college preparatory course designed for review of those algebraic concepts needed for the study of Calculus. The course includes a more thorough study of all different algebraic and trigonometric functions. The course emphasizes in quick and efficient skills in graphing all different types of algebraic and trigonometric functions for analyzing and solving equations. The course will include concepts in Discrete Mathematics. |
